The countdown is on to the Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament. Go ahead and mark yourself ‘out of the office’ for Friday, August 21. The much-anticipated tourney will be held at the beautiful Alderbrook Golf & Yacht Club. It’s going to be a great day on the greens! You get 18 holes of swinging, chipping, and putting; the course is riddled with hole sponsors giving away goodies, serving up fun, and assisting you in an assortment of prizes. The funds raised at this event underwrite the costs associated with various partnerships and educational opportunities; so it’s a win-win even if you’re not under par.

Thankfully, golfing is a low risk COVID-19 activity according to health experts. The 10th Annual Chamber Golf Tournament is expected to be the best chance for networking so far this summer. Who have you been planning to call? Intending to meet? Dying to see again? This is the perfect time to reach out and extend an invitation.

There are a variety of ways to participate and community members are invited to play. For Chamber members, there are also a variety of sponsorship opportunities, you can register as a sponsor now to reserve a spot for your company or organization. The scramble style tournament will host teams of four; register to play now. Take the day to sponsor a team of potential clients, stand-out staffers, or pro-business foe for a day on the fairway. Contests, awards, and giveaways are always par for the course. Do not worry a bit; additional safety protocols are in place so you can concentrate on getting some quality time on the greens. Standard registration is $100 per individual. In honor of the 10th year anniversary, players who “tin-up” to spend $125 each will also earn a chance to win a $100 gift card for a Chamber member business of their choice. For those who want it all, a VIP registration is only $150 and adds a fairway tee, one mulligan, and a licorice rope to extend/make the putt. Team pricing is $400 standard registration, $500 Tin-up registration, or $600 VIP registration. VIP teams also get a bonus of starting from the 150’ marker on hole #8. Since an after party cannot be held, prize winners will be announced via Facebook Live and notified by text. All registration fees include greens fees, cart, and lunch.

Of course, an in-person event amid a mask mandate does require a few logistical changes to meet health and safety requirements. Instead of a shotgun start, teams will tee off two at a time from holes #1 and #10. Teams will continue to tee off every nine minutes from 8:30-10:35a. Beverage service will be as usual, including the Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s breakfast bar, available as you swing, chip, and putt your way through the course. Individual boxed lunches and a no-host bar will await golfers at the turn. Each hole will be a mix of friendly competition and the course is peppered with chances to besting others or claim a prize. No matter what, it beats a day at the office.

Each year the Chamber golf tourney is sponsored by local business partners who make this day of camaraderie a must. Companies who sign on as a sponsor have a variety of ways to get noticed with investments ranging from $100 to $2,000. Connect with Deidre Peterson to review options and reserve soon. A simple, popular promotion is to donate logo-ed items that will be gifted to each golfer. Anything from apparel to coupons will do! Drop by the office or email to arrange for a no-contact pickup.

Full disclosures regarding protocol for that day can be reviewed online. Although masks and gloves are not required during play or at driving range, they are required at registration, in the pro shop, and in the clubhouse. Sanitation stations are available throughout the facility. Players will also be provided hand sanitizer for personal use, courtesy of Bakala State Farm Insurance. A verbal health screening will be conducted upon your arrival. To respect social distancing, we encourage air-fives, toe taps, and elbow bumps.
