Chambers, EDC to host Candidate forum October 16
As ballots hit mailboxes, the business community will host a community forum for those local races which are contested and directly responsible for creating policy. The event will be held in-person at 6:00p on Wednesday, October 16 at Olympic Middle School; the program will also be streamed live via Mason WebTV powered by HCC.
The following races (in ballot order) have been invited to participate: Legislative District 35 State Representative, Position 2(Travis Couture and James DeHart); Mason County Commissioner, District 1 (Randy Neatherlin and William “Will” Harris); and Mason County Commissioner, District 2 (Tom Beben and Pat Tarzwell). Candidates are provided an opportunity to share their viewpoints, address topics and questions, as well as submit questions to be asked of their opponent.
The forum is to be hosted by the Chamber in partnership with the North Mason Chamber, Economic Development Council of Mason County, and local media.
The Shelton-Mason and North Mason Chambers, along with the Economic Development Council of Mason County, collectively serve as the voice of the business community and we make it a point to be at the heart of important issues like workforce development, quality of life, and civic engagement. That said, we are not political action committees and do not endorse candidates; we are independent organizations led by the private sector.
The Chambers and EDC provide nonpartisan information and host community education and outreach opportunities because we believe people have a right to know what candidates for public office believe about issues that affect our community. It is our goal to give every citizen the ability to learn more about policy making candidates and encourage you to get out and vote.
