Sparky Mountain Wellness Brings Spring Balance to Shelton
Shelton’s wellness community is growing in meaningful ways this spring, with several local businesses offering wellness and homeopathic services. One of the newest additions is Sparky Mountain Wellness. Founded by longtime massage therapist, yoga educator, and Ayurvedic practitioner Jessica Dean, the practice brings holistic healing rooted in tradition to the local area. While Jessica is a familiar face in Shelton, her Ayurvedic practice is a newer addition—and one she’s excited to share with the broader community.
Jessica is a seasoned professional in the field of wellness, with more than two decades of experience as a licensed massage therapist and a yoga therapist and teacher. Her work is grounded in Ayurveda—a 5,000-year-old natural healing system that promotes health by balancing the body, mind, and environment. After years of teaching and practicing around the world, Jessica is now focused on bringing personalized, nature-based care to the community she calls home.
Education is key to the Sparky Mountain Wellness experience. Jessica believes wellness begins with simple, sustainable daily practices. Through seasonal workshops, community classes, and in-home cooking parties, she helps clients bring Ayurvedic wisdom into their everyday lives. From understanding seasonal self-care to learning how to cook nourishing meals with healing herbs, these offerings are designed to be approachable and empowering.
At Sparky Mountain Wellness, services are centered around individualized treatment. Among the core offerings are nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, herbal protocols, and the following treatments: Abhyanga (a traditional oil massage), Shirodhara (the pouring of warm, medicated oil across the forehead), Svedana herbal steam therapy), Pinda Sveda (herbal bolus massage), and Basti (targeted oil therapy). Each service is tailored to the client’s unique constitution and wellness goals. In keeping with yoga’s Ayurvedic roots, Jessica also offers one-on-one and small-group yoga therapy, which supports healing through personalized movement and breathwork.
One of the most powerful services available is Panchakarma, Ayurveda’s traditional cleansing and rejuvenation program. This multi-step process combines herbal support, diet modifications, oil therapies, and personalized bodywork to help release stored toxins—known as ama—from the body. Jessica customizes each Panchakarma to the individual and notes that spring is the ideal time for this work, as the body is already in a natural state of transition and renewal.
Whether you’re seeking relief from chronic imbalance or simply looking to feel more aligned with the season, Sparky Mountain Wellness offers tools and support to guide your journey. Jessica is also going to print with Aruyvedic Wellness for Staying Healthy as a Backpacker or Endurance Athlete. Look for the book to be released this summer, 2025.
Simple ways to start your wellness journey:
- Follow a consistent daily routine (Dinacharya). Waking, eating, and sleeping at the same times each day helps regulate your body’s natural rhythms.
- Use herbs and seasonal foods to support health. Many common healing herbs—such as fennel, coriander, Tulsi (holy basil), lemon balm, and Motherwort—can be grown easily in the Pacific Northwest.
- Get outside and sync with nature. Even a short walk in the morning sunlight can support your circadian rhythm and mood, in keeping with Ayurvedic emphasis on aligning with natural cycles.
