Chamber Joins Mason County Stands Together Against Domestic Violence
This October, the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce will join organizations throughout the county in taking a visible stand against domestic violence.
The Chamber has signed on as a Founding Community Partner of Mason County Stands Together Against Domestic Violence, a community-wide Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaign coordinated by Turning Pointe Survivor Advocacy Center and Mason Matters.
The campaign brings together businesses, tribal nations, schools, healthcare providers, government agencies, law enforcement, faith communities, nonprofits, and community members around one clear message:
MASON COUNTY STANDS TOGETHER.
AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
Throughout October, that message will appear across Mason County on signs and reader boards, in storefronts and community facilities, and through social media and other communications. Participating organizations will also have opportunities to display purple lights, share resources, and participate in Stand Together Day on October 15.
For the Chamber, becoming a Founding Community Partner is a natural extension of our role as a Champion for a strong community. A vibrant business community depends on more than economic conditions alone. The well-being and quality of life of the people who live and work here matter, too. That principle is also reflected in the Chamber’s public policy guidelines and our commitment to policies and partnerships that contribute to strong, resilient communities.
Domestic violence reaches across workplaces, families, and neighborhoods. While the Chamber is not a direct-service organization, we can use our voice and our connections within the business community to help ensure an important message is seen and heard. By participating, the Chamber joins a community-wide effort to stand with survivors, promote safe and healthy relationships, and make clear that domestic violence has no place in Mason County.
Turning Pointe will also sponsor the Chamber’s October Business After Hours on Wednesday, October 14, at The Colonial House, providing another opportunity for members to connect with the organization and learn more about its work in our community.
On October 1, organizations throughout Mason County will begin sharing the campaign together. The Chamber is proud to stand among them.
