A Word from the CEO

As we welcome the crisp air and vibrant colors of fall, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the ever-evolving
state of our business community. Fall is not just a season of harvest but also a period of growth and
recognition for the incredible businesses that make up our Chamber. In this issue of Business
Matters, we spotlight the ongoing efforts to support our local economy and the exciting
programs that help our members and community thrive.

One of the most beloved Chamber programs is our annual flower baskets and the lighted holiday decor. These colorful installations hang proudly throughout our downtown for the seasons, symbol-izing community pride and collaboration. The program is entirely funded by generous donations from businesses and individuals who care about enhancing the charm of our downtown and gateways. As we plan for the next season, please consider contributing. Donations are essential to keeping this program going, and your contribution—no matter the size—helps us continue brightening our shared spaces.

Recognition of excellence is one of the hallmarks of our Chamber, and we are thrilled to announce that nominations are now open for our annual awards. These awards are an opportunity to honor businesses and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to our community. Whether it’s innovative business practices, community engagement, or an incredible boss, we want to hear your nominations. Let’s take this chance to celebrate the remarkable achievements happening all around us. Learn more on page nine.

With the election season on the horizon, we’re joining our partner Chamber and the EDC to host a Candidate Forum, bringing together community leaders and business owners to hear directly from candidates on the issues that matter most. The forum provides a critical opportunity to engage with those who may be shaping our future policies and economic landscape. Be sure to mark your calendars and attend this vital event—it’s your chance to be informed and ensure your voice is heard. This event is free and open to the public.

Recent weeks have also been a time for professional development and learning. As your Chamber CEO, I’ve had the privilege of attending state and regional conferences where we’ve explored the latest business trends and crowdsourced information within our industry. One takeaway that I’m excited to bring back to our community is the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on business operations. From simple steps to utilizing AI as a strategic thought partner, there is huge potential to transform how we do business. To ensure our members are ahead of the curve, we’ll be hosting an AI for Business webinar on November 5 with renowned WSI Next Gen Marketing. This session will offer practical insights and best practices for integrating AI into your daily operations, no matter the size of your business.

As we look toward the remainder of the year, it’s clear that the strength of our Chamber lies in its members. Through your participation, support, and collaboration, we continue to build a vibrant, thriving business community. Let’s keep the momentum going—here’s to a season of growth, recognition, and innovation!
