Chamber Board Sets Goals for 2023
Early in January, the Chamber’s board of directors gathered to set the strategy for the organization. President/CEO Peterson says, “We are fortunate to have bold and thoughtful leaders engaged in that conversation.”
The board has directed Chamber staff to focus efforts this year on: building relationships with our community partners; actively supporting workforce development/CTE in local schools; increasing the Chamber’s visibility; and establishing operations and policies to support a solvent organization and strong company culture. These goals were officially adopted at the February 28 board meeting.
The Chamber was incorporated in 1922 as the Shelton-Mason County Commercial Club and has served our community faithfully for more than 100 years. Today, we are the county’s oldest, largest, and most influential business association. The club’s original purpose was to engage in educational and social pursuits, develop its members and others, advance the prosperity and growth of the local area, encourage the establishment of industry, foster capital and protect labor, collect and disseminate valuable information. Today, our mission is to encourage and maintain a vibrant business community, promote tourism, and facilitate economic development.
Each year the way we work must adapt to the changing needs of our members and the current climate, we are only able to affect lasting, meaningful change when we are one of many striving to do so. Peterson expounds, “This community is fortunate to have countless individuals, organizations, and stakeholders working every day to create a community that is worth the people who have made it home. We are poised for great things and I am thrilled to work each day towards solving problems and creating opportunities. Mason County deserves it.”
