Halloween Spooktacular 2026

Published on

Once again, the Chamber is partnering with Shelton Downtown Merchants to present Halloween Spooktacular. The community is invited for an evening of trick-or-treating with local businesses!

The event hours are 4:00-6:00p on Friday, October 30. Railroad Ave will be closed to traffic from First to Seventh, beginning at 2:00p.

Local businesses and organizations are invited to pop up a tent or open their trunk to the community trick-or-treaters. This will be set-up similar to the Chamber’s Expo & Bite of Mason County: each participant will be assigned a parking space and priority placement will be provided to participants who have a storefront along Railroad Ave. Decorations and creative candy dispensing are encouraged!

For Trick-or-Treaters

Bring your little ghosts & goblins downtown for an evening of Halloween fun! This free, family-friendly event is open to everyone. No registration is necessary for trick-or-treaters. Just put on your costumes, grab your candy bags, and join the fun!

Costumes & Props

Costumes are encouraged! To help keep Spooktacular safe and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these guidelines:

  • No functional weapons of any kind are permitted.
  • Small, lightweight costume accessories are generally allowed, provided they do not pose a safety risk.
  • Toy firearms must have a clearly visible bright orange safety tip.
  • Brandishing, mock fighting, or threatening behavior involving costume props is not permitted.
  • Costumes, masks, and props must not obstruct walkways or create safety hazards.

Event organizers reserve the right to ask any attendee to modify or remove any costume element, mask, or prop deemed unsafe, inappropriate, or disruptive, even if it otherwise meets these guidelines.

Street Closures & Parking

Railroad Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic from First to Seventh Streets on Friday, October 30, from 2:00–7:00p. The trick-or-treating event will take place between First and Fifth Streets. Please plan accordingly and use nearby parking outside the closure area.

For Participating Businesses & Organizations

Registration for the 2026 Halloween Spooktacular is now closed. Thank you to all the businesses and organizations helping make this downtown tradition possible!

Already registered? Please review the following event details and setup information.

Booth Setup & Event Details

This will be set up similar to the Chamber’s Expo & Bite of Mason County: each participant will be assigned a parking space, and priority placement will be provided to participants who have a storefront along Railroad Avenue. Decorations and creative candy dispensing are encouraged!

  • Booth Assignments: An event map and individual booth assignments will be distributed to registered participants mid-week.
  • Setup: Participants may begin setting up at 2:30p and must be ready to welcome trick-or-treaters by 4:00p.
  • Booth Placement: Trick-or-treating booths will be set up in the parking spaces along Railroad Avenue, facing the center of the street.
  • Trunk-or-Treat Vehicles: Vehicle entries will be grouped together on the Evergreen Square side of Railroad Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets. Railroad Avenue businesses planning to participate with vehicles should keep this designated placement in mind.
  • Candy: Please plan for a large turnout! We recommend bringing a minimum of ten large, Costco-sized bags of individually wrapped candy.
  • Event Hours: Trick-or-treating takes place from 4:00–6:00p.
  • Street Closure: Railroad Avenue will be closed from First to Seventh Streets from 2:00–7:00p.

Participant Requirements

No equipment or supplies are provided. Participants are responsible for bringing their own tents, canopies, weights, tables, chairs, candy, decorations, and any other materials needed for their booth.

Participants must staff their booth for the entirety of the event; booths may not be left unattended.

Event organizers reserve the right to accept or deny any participant at their sole discretion.

Thank you for helping make Halloween Spooktacular a fun and memorable experience for our community!
