YMCA Inside Look

Published on

The much anticipated facility is planning its grand opening for March 2021. Donors in our area helped make this vision a reality by contributing approximately $8 million toward the capital campaign.

Aubree Fudge, Senior Director of the Shelton Family YMCA branch, emphasized the center will serve as much more than a gym. She likened it to a community hub; a friendly outlet for physical, social, and financial fitness. The Y is designed to be a safe, family-friendly destination that encourages mind-body balance and love for mankind. Adults and kids will find aquatics, an array of camps, childcare options, fitness classes, sports activities, wellness workshops, and more.

The state-of-the-art building will feature a gymnasium, locker rooms, cardio equipment, free weights, yoga and cycling studios, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as a covered outdoor pool. Numerous community partners such as Peninsula Credit Union, Mason Health, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington will also take an active role on the property utilizing space to provide educational offerings.

Most importantly, nobody will be turned away for an inability to pay. All are welcome regardless of ability, age, ethnicity, faith, gender, ideology, income, race, or sexual orientation. The YMCA organization operates as a nonprofit that relies upon annual giving campaigns and the ongoing support of sponsors and volunteers.
