Peninsula Credit Union Receives National “Juntos Avanzamos” Designation for Commitment to Financial Inclusion

Peninsula Credit Union has been awarded the national designation “Juntos Avanzamos”
(“Together We Advance”), recognizing its commitment to serving and empowering Hispanic and
immigrant communities through inclusive, affordable financial services. It marks a significant
achievement this year as the company celebrates its 90th anniversary.

On Tuesday, September 17, 2025, Peninsula Credit Union will host a special event at its Shelton branch,
bringing together community partners, local leaders, and members to celebrate the designation, the
milestone anniversary, and will also ring in Hispanic Heritage Month. The event, “Unidos! Neighbors,
Now and Always,” will feature dancing horse performances by Rancho Durango and Rancho Chavez, live
music by Vozess Singers Show, local food trucks, family activities courtesy of the YMCA, and the official
proclamation and flag-raising ceremony.

“This year is incredibly special for us,” said Jim Morrell, President & CEO of Peninsula Credit Union. “We
are honoring our 90-year history, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with our partners and members,
and receiving the Juntos Avanzamos designation. Together, these milestones affirm our long-standing
commitment to listening, serving, educating, and caring for our members…always.”

The Juntos Avanzamos dedication is part of Peninsula Credit Union’s goal to help more members of our
local communities. Peninsula has been intentionally dedicating time to focusing its products, services,
people, and marketing to be more inclusive and culturally relevant, in efforts to become a steady and
dependable banking solution for more people.

“Earning the Juntos Avanzamos designation required significant dedication and hard work, and this
honor reflects both the mission of our credit union and my personal commitment to creating
opportunities for all,” said Darla Kolbas, Lending Director and part of Peninsula Credit Union’s Hispanic
Initiatives Team. “As a Latina with Mexican heritage, it is especially meaningful to represent my culture
while helping strengthen and empower the communities we serve.”

About the Designation
The Juntos Avanzamos designation, led by Inclusiv, is awarded to credit unions that demonstrate a
strong commitment to Hispanic and immigrant consumers. Credit unions must meet rigorous standards,
including offering deposit and loan products for members with ITINs (Individual Tax ID Numbers),
offering bilingual services, employing culturally competent staff, accepting alternative forms of
identification, and more. Peninsula Credit Union is proud to join the more than 100 credit unions
nationwide who have received the Juntos Avanzamos designation.

Peninsula Credit Union has proudly served Mason, Kitsap, Jefferson, Clallam, and Grays Harbor counties since 1935. As it celebrates 90 years of member-owned banking in 2025, the credit union remains committed to the values of trust, community, and financial empowerment. Founded by employees of Shelton’s former Rayonier Pulp and Paper Mill, PCU was built on the belief in cooperative banking that benefits all. That mission endures today, with profits reinvested into member services through lower lending rates, fewer fees, and personalized financial guidance. In addition to offering financial products designed to support members at every stage of life, Peninsula Credit Union is actively involved in community outreach across the region. From teaching financial literacy in schools to participating in local events like the Mason County Forest Festival and Bite of Reality fairs, the credit union’s team is dedicated to building stronger communities. Named Business of the Year in 2014, PCU continues to lead with service and heart as it looks ahead to the next 90 years.
