Chamber Convenes Virtual Candidates Forum
The candidates for several local races will be whittled down following the 2022 Primary Election. The Chamber invited contested races (those with more than two candidates on the upcoming ballot) to address topics and questions and to ask questions of their opponents.
Partnering with the Shelton-Mason County Journal, North Mason Chamber, and Mason WebTV powered by HCC for the virtual Candidates Forum. The program was moderated by Chamber CEO Heidi McCutcheon and Journal Publisher John Lester.
Four candidates are contending for the office vacated by Drew MacEwen as he runs for state senate: Legislative District 35 State Representative, Position 2 candidates include (in ballot order) Tiffany Sevruk, Travis Couture, Sandy Kaiser, and Patti Case. Residents vying for Mason County Commissioner, District 3 are incumbent Sharon Trask, Mark Carlson, and Miguel Gutierrez (who did not accept the invitation). Juli Tuson, Marty Crow, Randy Lewis, and Brianna Sheetz seek to represent ratepayers as PUD 3 Commissioner, District 1 following Linda Gott’s decision to retire from her seat.
Not included in this Candidate Forum for the Primary (listed in ballot order) are: Julianne Gale and Drew C. MacEwen for State Senator for Legislative District 35; James DeHart and Daniel Griffey for State Representative, District 35, Position 1; Patti McLean and George Blush for Mason County Assessor; Paddy McGuire and Steve Duenkel for Mason County Auditor; Charles G. Rhodes and Sharon K Moore-Fogo for Mason County Clerk; Jaime Taylor runs unopposed for Mason County Coroner (short & full-term); Michael Dorcy runs unopposed for Mason County Prosecutor; Ryan Spurling runs unopposed for Mason County Sheriff; and Elisabeth (Lisa) Frazier runs unopposed for Mason County Treasurer.
